How Does Microneedling Work?

During a Microneedling treatment, we use The SkinPen to repeatedly puncture the skin with tiny sterile needles in an effort to leave small micro-channels in the skin. This causes “micro-injuries” in the tissue- which then signals your body to begin the healing process, naturally producing new collagen. The new collagen production leaves the skin looking and feeling smoother, firmer, more toned, and overall more rejuvenated creating an overall more youthful appearance.

What to Expect

At your Microneedling appointment, a topical numbing cream is applied before we start to ensure you feel little to no discomfort during the treatment. The treatment typically takes 30 minutes when being performed on just the face (and just a little longer if you want to add in the neck or chest area).

You may begin to see some results 1-week after your treatment, and after that your skin will gradually continue to improve as your body continues to stimulate collagen. You won’t see the final Microneedling results until 4-6 weeks after treatment. For optimal results, we recommend a series of 3-6 treatments.

We make every effort to make the treatment as painless as possible by applying a topical numbing cream to the area we’re treating prior to starting each SkinPen treatment. Patients describe only feeling a ‘vibration sensation’ on their skin during the treatment.
